The first race games

Were not like Mario Kart.

There were no curves,

There was no gas or brake.

I think there were mountains in the distance?

But you never got there.

The white line zipped towards you.

All you could do was hit z or x

To dodge an oil slick.

Muscle memory.

My brain cannot grasp spacetime

But if it could I’d see it just like this.

You can put your body different places,

Z and X a bit, say something daring, catch a train.

Dodge an oil slick.

Muscle memory.

But the white line doesn’t stop.
